RV Boondocking Might Change Your Life

You may have never heard the word Boondocking before, but if you’re looking for a way to escape the corporate grind and live your creative dream, this may be the word that changes your life.

My life is kick-ass. No kidding. It’s a life I always fantasized about but thought could never happen…until I found Boondocking. It’s the not-so-secret sauce that allows me to live the life I always wanted.

What is it? It’s free RV Parking and it’s the key component to living a full-time RV Life on a budget.

Okay, okay, experienced travelers. I know we may also call this camping, or dry camping, or dispersed camping, but whatever you call it, it’s awesome.

The minute I tell someone I live in my RV, one of two things happens. Either, they almost scream “that’s SO COOL!” or they blink, pin their brows together and say, “but where do you park?” I mentioned last week In my last blog installment, My RV Budget: How You Can Afford to Live on the Road that the number #1 question I get asked is where I park.

My answer: “All over the place.” This is boondocking. Of course, there are tricks and resources and rules, but they are easy to navigate. To help, I’m writing a six-part series called Cheap and Free RV Parking You Will Love. The first installment is this Tuesday, so subscribe now (hit that little yellow box to the right that reads “subscribe”) to have each installment emailed directly to you. Each one will be chock-full of how-tos, resources, and links so it will be handy to have them in your in-box.

To boondock, you only need an RV, or Van or Car or Tent or something that will allow you to live without constantly being plugged into an electrical source and water. This is easy! Plus, you can get up and go, see the country and travel without worrying about finding a space in an RV park (and, yuck, btw. Why pay $40 a night to pull up on concrete next to another RV?).

So, stay tuned! Coming up are 6 ways to Boondock:

1) BLM

2) National Forest

3) Harvest Host

4) Friendly Retailers: Cracker Barrel and Walmart

5) Truck Stops

6) Rest Areas

Plus, there will be a second, non-parking related post each week, as well. Coming up: How to Stay Connected, several travel reviews, and How to RV with a Pet!

Thanks for reading, and please like, share and come back to visit me.

Be Happy. Create More. Be Free.
